Embracing Divine Surrender
I know all have heard the saying "Let go and Let God". This edict for me has been a challenge all my life. As so many women, I, and I alone will fix it. That mantra will put us all in an early grave!! I need to start singing in the voice of Karyn White, “I'm Not Your Superwoman". But here is the scary part, no one asked me to be their Superwoman. I just took on the role. Why? I am not sure. But I intend to find out.
The 2024 election cycle was pivotal for so many women. Especially Black Women since the top of the Presidential ticket was a Black Woman. Within a short period of time, she galvanized the Democratic party and got us engaged. We invested our time, energy and money into the campaign. We knocked on doors, made phone calls, put up signs and cheered at rallies. But guess what, the win for VP Harris did not happen. So, guess what, Black women decided to just rest!! Yep, I said it the "R" word.
Rest was needed. After trying to save the world and fixing things, we are resting. We are letting Go and Letting God. He will fix it. So, as part of this faith series, I would like for us to focus on the need to Let Go. God will provide all our needs. He will cure the ills, and he has already defeated evil.
The Foundation is sustained by Faith, Family, Fitness Finance and Fun. Faith will ensure we maintain our mental, physical and spiritual health. We cannot be all things to all people. No matter how badly we want to end suffering, we must have faith God will give us the tools to be of use on this side of Jordan.
This past weekend while volunteering at the Streetside Showers, there was a woman who lost both legs. Her distress was evident by the tears she shed. Unable to get into the shower, she was suffering from insect bites. She had not had a shower in 6 months. Only wipes have been used to keep her clean. Not being able to help her was upsetting to me. It made me realize more help and support will be needed to resolve all her problems, resources not available to me, but will be for her. I pray she gets the help she needs addressed. God will do it.
My husband recommended a book for me, "Let go of 'I Got It'". As I have gotten older, I realize I don't get it and there are so many talented people out there who are able to assist, I just must back up and let them. Getting help is not an indication of failure. Not getting help can lead to failure.
